Embedding realtime gps tracker into a facebook page

Post by kelv »

Hi All,

I have recently embedded a map from realtime gps tracker onto my facebook page. I am planning of a kitesurf crossing from Devon to Swansea and wanted to enable people to track my progress. In addition we will be racing a car that will be driving the same route so I wanted an app that is capable of tracking this also so that users of my facebook page can watch this race live as it unfolds and the history of the crossing is recorded. I thought that others would be interested in how I have done this so I have put this guide together.

First I installed an app on my facebook page which enables me to add html code. The following guide explains how to do this

http://www.webdesignkingston.com/index. ... -timeline/

Once you have done this, a tab appears on you page as you can see on my facebook page that I have renamed to ‘Real time GPS tracking’

You can then go to this tab and enter html code directly as shown on the ‘real time GPS tracker’ website, however wherever ‘http’ is used you must replace this with ‘https’, i.e.:

<iframe src="https://www.greenalp.com/RealTimeTracke ... kelvinlake" width="640" height="480"></iframe>
<div style="width:414px;font:10px sans;color:#999999;padding:0px;"><div><a style="margin:0px;padding:0px;" href="https://www.greenalp.com"><img style="padding:0px;margin:0px;" src="https://www.greenalp.com/RealTimeTracke ... racker.png" alt="Free real-time tracking. Free GPS tracker. Show your location live on Google Maps. Free for your Android phone."/></a></div><div style="margin:2px 0px;"><a style="margin:0px;padding:0px;" href="https://www.greenalp.com">Show your location live on Google Maps. Free real-time GPS tracker for Android.</a></div></div>
